Philadelphia is working toward environmental goals that will, in time, rank it among the most environmentally friendly cities in the United States. Considering the city was built on the backs of steel mills and other industrial polluters, this transformation is bound to be slow and costly. But anything worth doing takes time, and usually, it takes lots of money. Still, you don’t have to wait to find great “green” living spaces in the city.

They’re available right now! Love to shop? You can shop quite of few of the big name eco-friendly retailers without ever leaving the Philadelphia area. Not only can you get a great rate on Philly apartments near environmentally friendly malls, there are lots of stores here that have earned top ratings with the pro-earth crowd. The Green Depot, our planet’s foremost green building supplier has a store in Philly. REI has two stores in the area and Timberland has four. REI and Timberland are both ranked consistently high for their eco-friendly products and practices. With a great transit system, plenty of friendly neighborhoods and lots of history, Philadelphia has plenty to offer newcomers. Check out some of the great housing deals, or find environmentally friendly Philly apartments by shopping on line. When we shop online, we all do a bit to save the planet. Choosing your potential apartment, or picking a green retailer before you make the trip, means less time in your car and causes less smog forming emissions. So, go green from your PC. If you’re in Philadelphia, you’ll be doing that in plenty of good company.
